We offer endoscopic examinations for your pet. Using this equipment, we can view inside the animal and take tissue samples without the need for surgery.
We have different equipment depending on the part of the animal we want to examine.
We have an endoscope specifically for the gastrointestinal tract. With this, we can look into the dog’s stomach and the first part of the intestine. This procedure is often done if a dog has stomach pain and has been vomiting for an extended period. The equipment can also be used to remove small foreign objects from the stomach, such as a stone or needle, allowing the animal to avoid major surgery.
We also have endoscopes specifically for the respiratory tract. This allows us to examine a dog or cat that sneezes a lot, has discharge from one nostril, or if there’s a suspicion that a grass seed has entered the nasal cavity.
We can also look down an animal’s trachea with an endoscope to check if the trachea appears normal. Short-nosed dog breeds, in particular, tend to have a narrowed trachea, which can be accurately diagnosed in this way.
At Artemis, we offer a thorough examination for dogs with recurring ear infections.
This condition often has multiple causes that need to be identified, but part of the diagnostic process may involve a detailed examination of the ear canal. We have a special ear scope with endoscopic functionality that can go deep into the ear and capture images of the ear canal and eardrum. The equipment also has a feature that allows the ear to be flushed and cleaned during the procedure.
